Before coming to Montana Western, Doug taught biology, mathematics and computer programming at a high school in Detroit, Mich. He then taught mathematics at Montana State University.

Since completing his graduate studies, Doug has been a member of the Montana Western faculty for the last 23 years. He currently teaches Business Research and Statistics and Computer Basics for Educators for the business department. He also teaches Methods of Teaching Mathematics in the education department.

In his Business Research and Statistics class, students analyze business data with linear algebra and statistics. Based on the analysis they make business decisions about what products to produce and if manufacturing processes are functioning properly. Finally, the develop skills in evaluating quality of research data and the conclusions drawn from that data.

Doug holds a Master of Science degree from Montana State University.
