Gallery Reception: "Recurrence" by Kim Weiss and Amanda Thatch

Join us for a reception for this collaborative exhibition by Amanda Thatch and Kim Weiss! Both use themes from nature to explore experimental processes in their studio practice.

Amanda’s weavings use cotton and silk fibers with plant and insect derived dyes to think about language, time, and seasonal change. Kim’s mixed media wall installation of cecropia giant silk moths combines traditional relief printing making process with 3D wood forms to explore the effect of color, transformation, and multiplicity in nature as well as print media. Both artists collaborate on woven panels that combine printmaking and fiber processes in ways that look for metaphoric resonance between the natural world and the generative possibilities of art making.
