Fine Arts Gallery Opening Reception- Establishing Connection

Petit Artwork

The University of Montana Western’s Fine Arts Gallery has scheduled an opening reception of the new contemporary exhibit in the Corr Gallery titled “Establishing Connection” by sculptor Amy Petit from 5:30-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 25, 2018. An artist’s Q&A will take place at 6:30 pm in the gallery.

Pacific Northwest sculptor Amy Petit uses heavy materials such as cast metal and cast glass to create objects that explore the ephemeral themes of memory, loss, tradition, and nostalgia, and the changing nature of communication in an increasingly digital world.

The exhibit will be open Jan. 9 – Feb. 9, 2018 during regular gallery hours. Gallery hours are Monday-Friday from 1-3 p.m., or by appointment.

The Fine Arts Gallery is also proud to announce the arrival of new works from the Permanent Collection displayed in the Walton Gallery, including: “Winter Dawn on South Platte River” by Russell Chatham, and “Beaverhead, Big Hole, Ruby River Map” by Jen Bardsley.

Free and open to the public- cider, coffee, and snacks will be served. The Gallery is located at the South end of Main Hall.
