Montana Running Company is hosting the 3rd Annual Beaverhead Marathon in Dillon, Mont. on May 16, 2020. The race continues to grow but will be capped at 100 racers for the Full Marathon and 150 for the Half Marathon. We want to keep it intimate and offer a high quality experience for all racers.
The course will be the same as the last two years. The Full Marathon starts at Horse Prairie Camp Ground at Clark Canyon Reservoir near the site of Lewis & Clarks Camp Fortunate with the Tendoy Mountains and Lima Peaks in the background. Participants will run on the 45th Parallel and then follow downstream along the Beaverhead River, a Blue Ribbon Trout Stream, past geological features like the Pipe Organ, Daly Spur, and Rattlesnake Cliffs. Runners will run past many historic landmarks including the site where gold was discovered on Grasshopper Creek in 1862. The Half Marathon starts along the Beaverhead River near the Old Montaqua plant. After Barrett’s Park runners will run through rich agriculture land with views of the Pioneer, Blacktail, Sweetwater, Highland and Tobacco Root Mountains. The views in Beaverhead County are amazing! Both races follow the same course and end in Downtown Dillon, Montana at Beaverhead Brewing Company.
