Intertribal Community Drum Making: Day 2

August “Tiger” Scalpcane, a Northern Cheyenne community member will be sharing his knowledge of drum making with Montana Western. The community drum constructed will become Montana Western’s for use at graduation, convocation, and other events.

Feb 29: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., UMW Library
Community drum construction workshop. Learn aspects of construction including soaking and stretching hide, as well as foundations of drum framework. Participants are welcome to drop-in throughout the process, to be observers or active participants.

Hosted by the American Indian and Minority Achievement Committee and the Tara VanDerveer Tribal Partnership Fund housed at the UMW Foundation.
