Women's Basketball Coach and Team Members Receive All-Conference Awards

Montana Western senior guard Brianna King was named the Frontier Conference Player of the Year and Lindsay Woolley was named the Frontier's Coach of the Year to lead the Bulldogs in Frontier Conference postseason awards. Additionally, Britt Cooper was named First-Team All-Conference and Cierra Lamey was All-Conference honorable mention.

Woolley was named as the Frontier Conference’s top coach for the second time in the last three seasons. Woolley guided the Bulldogs to their first conference championship since 2003 and a 25-4, 15-3 record, their best conference record in over ten years.

“We are very proud of coach Woolley, his staff and the women’s basketball student-athletes for the magnificent season they are having,” Director of Athletics, Bill Wilson, said. “Congratulations to Coach Woolley for being honored as the Frontier Conference Coach of The Year. He is deserving of this award as he has built the Montana Western Women’s Basketball program into a perennial contender in the Frontier Conference and nationally, he is passionate about the development of his student-athletes as students, basketball players and as people and he represents our institution in the highest possible manner.”

King was named the conference’s Player of the Year for the second-straight season as well as earning First-Team All-Conference honors. The 5-5 senior from Spokane, Wash. leads the conference in scoring with 22.3 points and steals (80). She also leads the Bulldogs in assists with 91. King, who is fourth in the nation in scoring, was named Frontier Conference Player of the Week seven times this season.

Senior Britt Cooper, a 5-10 forward from Harrison, Mont., was named first-team all-conference. Cooper, who recently scored her 1000 career point, led the team with 6.9 rebounds a game. She averaged a career-best 9.4 points a game and shot 50.9 percent from the floor. She was named Second Team All-Conference last season.

Senior Cierra Lamey is a 5-10 forward from Wise River, Mont. and was named All-Conference honorable mention. This season Lamey improved in every statistical category averaging 9.5 points, 5.1 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.2 steals a game, all career bests. She had career-bests shooting the ball going 44.3 percent from the floor, 41.3 from beyond the arc and 81.1 percent from the free-throw line.

Lamey was also selected as the Bulldogs’ Champion of Character.

“I’m very happy for these student-athletes as they have put a ton of time and energy into their own games as well as our program,” head coach Woolley said. “I’ve really enjoyed watching them improve and mature during their time at UMW and these individual awards are great recognition for their hard work. Their commitment and selflessness are traits that carry over throughout our team and I couldn’t be more proud of them.”
