 This recruitment is to establish an applicant pool for future vacancies. Individuals will be contacted as vacancies occur.

Seeking instructors to prepare, teach and assess English Composition courses for the English department at the University of Montana Western. This position reports to the Provost and works closely with the English department Chair.

The University of Montana Western teaches in a block schedule. Classes are taught one at a time for 3 hours a day for 18 days (also called a block). There are four blocks each semester. Because of the intensity of this schedule, adjunct instructors must be willing to relocate or commute daily to the Dillon, Montana area for the duration of the class. Inexpensive university housing may be available.

Qualifications

 Essential Functions

  • Prepare, teach and assess courses in English composition for the English department.
  • Meet with students during regularly scheduled office hours     

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in English or Rhetoric/Composition from an accredited college or university.
  • Recent experience teaching face-to-face, college-level writing
  • Practice with experiential-learning techniques.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduate course work in teaching composition and/or the teaching of English.

Conditions of Employment

  • Must teach class face-to-face on campus in Dillon, MT
