Dennis Briening Glass Artist Demonstration
Please join us for a public lecture and a scientific glass making demonstration by artist Dennis Briening on Oct. 10 from 6-7 p.m. in the Emerick Art Studio on the Montana Western campus.
Dennis Briening is Salem Community College’s renowned Instructional Chair for Scientific Glass Technology. Prior to this role, Professor Briening taught as an adjunct instructor at SCC for nearly 30 years, managed the College’s Glass Center, and coordinated the noncredit glass program. In 2006, Professor Briening was honored at the International Flameworking Conference for his extraordinary contributions to the regional glass art community and, in particular, the College’s glass programs. In 2016, Professor Briening was also honored at SCC as a Distinguished Alumnus for his years of professional accomplishments and community service as a glass ambassador. Professor Briening has had an impressive career outside of SCC, as well. Early in his career, he worked for Xerox Electro-Optical Systems in Pasadena California, where he assisted in the development of the first laser printers. Later, he served for 26 years as a Glass Technologist at the Hercules Research Center in Wilmington, Delaware, where he participated in the research and development of many exciting and challenging glass projects.
